On Saturday 30th August Rokon staff volunteered to build bikes for disadvantaged kids. For the third year running, Rokon Giving has donated to Variety the Children’s Charity Bikes for Kids program, and the bikes that have been bought with the donated funds are then built by Rokon staff who give up their time to contribute to this valued cause.
Rokon Giving is proud to work alongside Variety to ensure that access to bikes, and the freedom and independence that brings, is available to children who would otherwise not be able to access a bike of their own. In past years, the bikes have been donated to specific schools and supplemented with bike education programs for the school to ensure safety and fun go hand in hand. This year the bikes are being gifted directly to families that have been identified through a Variety run grant program, and Rokon are pleased to be part of this life changing initiative.

We are grateful to all our employees who gave up their Saturday morning to join us at our workshop, which was transformed by our incredible Epping team into a bike building machine complete with a wall mural to paint, a sausage sizzle, plenty of Variety tee shirts and beanies, and a few bloopers on the day. The crew from Variety as always were amazing, and the volunteer bike mechanics from Pedal Power Workshop in Milawa made sure each and every bike is fully functioning and ready to be ridden off into the sunset straight away.

We also extend a sincere thanks to our valued suppliers Coates Hire who donated three industrial heaters for the day to keep us toasty warm, and Komatsu who came to visit with some donuts to keep us fuelled up!
Thanks everyone, this Volunteer Day just keeps bigger and better than ever, and our incredible staff keep turning up time and again, showing that famous generosity to match their powerful energy.
What a team, what a day.
